A buffer solution with 13 micron long double-stranded DNA is deposited over a Si substrate with a trench. When the solution dries, some DNA appear crossing the trench. They typically assume a stretched configuration, similar to the one shown in the picture.

  • The substrate is dried off with forced nitrogen gas, and those nanotubes that settled onto the surface of the susbstrate may remain (highlighted). Some of these nanotubes my span the trench.
